Not Breaking. This Wave Drowns Hate is an interactive artwork by artist Kat Austen that responds to the crisis of marine microplastic pollution and diminishing ocean health by creating inspirations for a more symbiotic relationship between humans and the marine environment.
Sculptural ’lighthouses’ orient the visitor through the installation space suffused with a dynamic soundscape. At its heart is an Al, which has been trained on data gathered with coastal communities from in and around Galway, responding to attendees to produce evolving, generative visuals projected on sail cloth. The installation envisions a future where humans and the ocean nurture each other.
